Saco Valley Credit Union is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors that is comprised of members of our Credit Union. Opportunities arise for members to serve as Board Members, Associate Board Members, and members of our Supervisory (Audit) Committee. Ideal candidates have the following qualifications:
- Desire to better the financial lives of members
- Understand and pursue the credit union philosophy of people helping people
- Ability to understand financial reporting and documents
- Ability to think strategically
We welcome applicants with varying backgrounds including but not limited to finance, human resources, benefits, information technology, law, and governance.
Current Postions Available
Associate Board Member
Saco Valley Credit Union is looking for a member to volunteer to participate as an Associate Member of the Saco Valley Credit Union Board of Directors. The Board is responsible for guiding the overall strategy, as well as the safety and soundness of the Credit Union and works with employees, other Board Members, and third parties as needed. While the Associate Board Member does not having voting rights on the Board, when vacancies arise on the Board, the Associate Board Member can be considered for the position. The Board of Directors meets monthly, and applicants can expect to spend 2-4 hours per month on various Board duties.
Responsibilities include:
- Attending monthly meetings
- Attending Annual Meeting
- Reviewing board packets that include, but are not limited to Balance Sheet and Income Statement information, Asset and Liability Committee Reports, & Expenses
- Providing insights and recommendations
Qualifications include:
- Must be at least 18
- Must be a member in good standing
- Must meet bonding requirements
- Must not have any conflicts of interest
